Hello Friends!

I pray that you are well and thriving in your body, soul and spirit!

Even though the state of Alabama has allowed for churches to reopen, the US Army is not allowing the chapel to open back yet. Even though we have still been doing video calls, I have been praying for creative ways to connect with the youth and music team, and the Lord brought to mind the way the early church did ministry. They didn´t even have a church building. They met in homes, in small groups. After all, the church is not a building, it is the Body of Christ. I called and got permission from the chaplain to get together with small groups  within the youth group and the music team, and he said yes!

So, I have started meeting with the older students in my group on Saturday mornings at 9:00 for breakfast. Most of these students have graduated high school. I have asked them to think about the recent events in our country and bring back some scripture about it. We all have an opinion, but what really matters is what God says about it, so I want them to really dig into the Word and find it for themselves.

I have a younger group that I am working with, going on hikes and other outdoor activities for now. I am looking for ways of connecting with them, finding out where they are emotionally and spiritually. If these groups get too big, I may have to have a 3rd small group, but that will be ok!

I will be meeting with the music team at my house starting on July 8. We have been doing video calls with the music team, but it will be so good to be together again!

With all the recent events-pandemic, racism, rioting-it is easy to get discouraged and even afraid. But this really is a time for the Body of Christ to step forward and show the peace and love that only God can give during times like these. I believe that God wants to take what the enemy means for evil and turn it for good, And He wants to use us, His church, to do it!

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.      Romans 12:1-2

Thanks so much for your prayers and financial support!
