As many of you know, Darrell stepped into heaven on January 17 after a couple of months battling infections and sepsis, ending up in the hospital ICU, then learning that the cancer was back and had spread all over his body. We prayed and believed for healing, but it soon became evident that this was his time to go. When he was released into Hospice care on Monday, I prayed that if this was indeed his appointment with the Lord, that he would not suffer and it would not be a long and drawn out time, because he would not want that. He was only in Hospice care for 3 days. Our children and grandchildren came over every day, talking to him and telling him they loved him and goodbye. And every day there was a steady stream of visitors coming to tell him "Thank you for caring about me"; "Thank you for helping me", "Thank you for leading me to Jesus". I am so glad he got to hear all those testimonies. He died 3 days after coming home. My son Andy saw him draw his last breath. We cried together, but we knew that he was seeing things that we could not even begin to imagine, in the Presence of our Lord. He is now among that "Great cloud of witnesses" in heaven, cheering us on.
God gave me this verse:
"Then, when our dying bodies have been transformed into bodies that will never die, this Scripture will be fulfilled: "Death is swallowed up in victory."
Pastor Rusty Nelson told me something that has stuck with me. He said, "Darrell's assignment has shifted, but Cheryl, yours has not."
So, with Holy Spirit as my Guide, I will continue to do the ministry that God has called me to do. And I know that I am not alone. He will go before me and will never leave me. He is everything I need.
Thank you so much for all your prayers, love and support during this very hard time.
Some of our youth that graduated and are now adults have come back and said that they are interested in helping with the ministry and our adult sons and daughters have expressed an interest in helping also. It will be interesting to see what God will do!
Thanks again for your love, prayers and financial support for this ministry
